Overview
Massage
Massage can affect the whole body, physiologically as well as psychologically. The different systems within the body benefit in various ways.
Skin
Eliminates toxins, helps with renewal of tissue, improves skin texture, aids relaxation and maintains a homeostasis.
Skeletal
Blood supply is increased which helps the hormone supply to the bones as deficiency causes problems in the joints.
Muscular
Improves body metabolism, assists in the interchange of tissue fluids, eliminates toxins, breaks down fats and improves muscle tone and contractibility.
Vascular
Increases blood flow which transports nutrients and oxygen and assists heart function.
Digestive
Increases blood flow which helps in the distribution of materials needed by the body for repair. This process of elimination can benefit this system by the efficient functioning of the digestive system and bowels.
Lymphatic
Improves the elimination of micro-organisms such as bacteria. Aids the flow of lymph, ensuring the lymph glands and vessels keep the fluid moving freely through them.
Neurological
Stimulates nerve endings. As the muscle improves in tone, so do the nerve endings that supply them. This reaches as far back as the spinal cord and brain. Various massage movements lead to a calm state of mind.
All massages leave the body in a state of homeostasis.
